This site is the personal portfolio of Walt Viviers, a fine artist and photographer based in Pretoria, South Africa. This page explains, in plain language, what information is collected when you visit, who processes it, and the choices you have.

The short version

waltviviers.com is a static website. I don't run my own accounts, logins, or databases of visitors. A handful of third-party services help the site run and help me understand which work resonates — some of them collect limited data through your browser. The analytics and the Instagram feed run only on the home page; the rest of the site (gallery, photography, artwork pages, this page) loads none of them.

What is collected, and by whom

The site uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy, linked below. I don't sell any data, and I don't combine it into visitor profiles myself.

Google Tag Manager & AnalyticsGoogle policy ↗

Home page only. Loads Google's tag/analytics tools to count visits and see which pages and links are popular. This may set cookies and record a truncated approximation of your location and device.

Microsoft ClarityMicrosoft policy ↗

Home page only. A free analytics tool that records anonymised interactions — clicks, scrolls and heatmaps — to show how the page is used. It masks text you type; it is not used to identify you personally.

Behold (Instagram feed)Behold policy ↗

Home page only. Displays my latest public Instagram posts. Your browser requests the feed from Behold; standard technical request data (such as your IP address) is involved, as with any web request.

Formspree (contact forms)Formspree policy ↗

Only when you submit an enquiry form. The name, email and message you enter are sent through Formspree, which forwards them to me by email so I can reply. Nothing is submitted unless you choose to send it.

Google FontsGoogle policy ↗

Every page loads the site's typefaces from Google's font service, which means your browser makes a request to Google (exposing your IP address as part of that request). No cookies are set for this.

Vercel (hosting)Vercel policy ↗

The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs and provides basic, privacy-friendly performance metrics (Speed Insights) to help pages load quickly.

Cookies

The site itself uses your browser's local storage only for small conveniences — remembering your light/dark theme choice and whether you've dismissed the site notice. These stay in your browser and are never sent anywhere. The analytics services above (on the home page) may set their own cookies as described in their policies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — under South Africa's POPIA, the EU/UK GDPR, or similar laws — you may have the right to ask what data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its processing.

For anything you sent me directly (an enquiry), email me and I'll action it.
For data held by the third parties above, you can also exercise your rights with them directly using the links provided.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers offer a "Do Not Track" or tracking-prevention option.

Children

This is a portfolio site not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If the tools the site uses change, I'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
