Dragon Kitties

Dragon Kitties is a small-format acrylic on canvas measuring 15 × 15 cm, completed in 2025. The piece brings together two of Walt Viviers' recurring interests, animals and the fantastical, in a compact, high-energy composition. Viviers has a gift for injecting outsized personality into modest canvases, and Dragon Kitties exemplifies that approach: the diminutive scale belies real warmth and detail, with the subject combination carrying the playful irreverence that runs through much of the Pretoria-based artist's recent work.
