Venom Cat

Venom Cat is one of Walt Viviers' most popular works, a 20 × 20 cm acrylic on canvas completed in 2019. The painting merges the instantly recognisable aesthetic of Marvel's Venom with a cat, a combination that proved immediately compelling when first shared online. Featured in an interview with Pixelsmith Studios, Venom Cat helped establish Viviers as a South African fine artist with a distinctive voice: one that moves fluidly between painterly technique and popular culture without sacrificing either. The small square format packs considerable visual punch, the subject's high-contrast markings lending themselves naturally to Viviers' bold, confident brushwork. The original is available for acquisition.
